Looking for submissions for a new project entitled Middle of the Road
A collaborative poster project by Robin Cameron and Denise Schatz
It could be as simple as a midway point between two extremes, like the center point of a circle. Maybe an intervening part of a sequence, say from a musical work by John Cage. A stage of development in a child, or a geological division of time like the lines in a sedimentary rock. From a young age we are told to never cross a street without looking both ways. Walking though an intersection in New York City can be a task in self preservation, but when you reach the middle of the road there is one moment to really see the city unfolding. Historically used to represent music or political parties, that tend to sit on the fence, we have decided to reclaim this term. Our definition is broad, similar to the circumstance of an eclipse, making a split second decision or seeing the possibility in something in between. Like a liminal state: ambiguity, openness, and indeterminacy rule the middle of the road.
Can you help us refine our definition — Do have your own ideas about the Middle of the Road?
